Lesson 1-Mexico or Guatemala blog
As I mentioned before I am native from Mexico to be exactly from a place call Culiancan which is the state capital of the state of Sinaloa. Sinaloa is a midsize state of Mexico where you can find great food and warm people where they are always very welcome with people, if many of you are not familiar with this state it is located in the pacific close to a tourist enviroment or beach named Mazatlan which is a port where has a lot of american influence. In my childhood to be honest I never traveled to any intersting sites in Mexico, most of the time my journeys where to american soil sites as Texas, New Mexico and or course California where I am a resident at the time, but my fellows peers i must sait to you that Mexico and central america has very intersting places where you can find diversity in all aspects starting from their people, foods, journeys, wild life etc. If you wanted to search hard deeper in the culture talking about economic aspects and political as well would be a great experience where we could all learn from eachother a lot, I am a lot interesting on debating about all this interesting facts which they will make bring my historical past on Mexican history, well guys I am looking forward to share my toughts and knowledge with you. By the way Donnie I road your posting the places where you were a great and beautiful but is normal that you did not have a lot of fellowship with Mexican people do because this places are tourist environments but I am sure if you would gone to the downtown of this cities you would fine lot more people that deal with the hard issues of the day by day basics and you could it find more different facts which I am sure you were looking for, have great day. Kind Regards.

ResponderEliminarAssigment 1
ResponderEliminarThe lecture talks about the past of Mesoamerica history on how in the sixteen century people from other cultures could emigrated to a new world from Asia throught land bridge or in history saids it was by a ice bridge in the northern region o what we know as Alaska, If the memory is working as I suppost it is call the Bering strait that where the first settlers arrive to Mesoamerica, but if this truth as history tell us, without a doubt plays a big role in actual time, but we do need know focus in our mayor concern for this assigment which is exploring the cultures that first habitated in Mesoamerica, to talk about the aztecs if not the most important culture one of it, the aztecs in the point of view is a tribe that is what we would call idolaters they believed in Gods which they said spoke to then throuth Motecuhzoma their leader they believed in all kinds of Good to mentioned a few of the Tlacoc(God of the rain),Huitzilopochtli(God of the sun), this last one, was the Good how told Motecuhzoma where he was going to lead his tribe so they would established the signal was where they saw and eagle devouring a snake on the top of a cactus that was the place were they would establish there temple. The interesting fact about the teotihucan temple in the present time is that a lot of people visit this temple when the spring is about to come, because they said that the temple when is hit by the light of the first day of the spring gives you positiva energy which is going to give you extra strength.
The Olmecs is the oldest tribe of Mesoamerica, to talk about the Olmecs is about a culture who was born in the middle pre-clasic and was borin in the states of Veracruz and west of Tabasco, this tribe was born around the 1200 ac they dont know exactly if there first ancestors were from Chiapas in the pacific ocean close to the stay of Oaxaca, but the truth is that this tribe had their own believes as the other tribes they were believers of different Gods in which they deposit a lot of their fait they even had animal they called Gods animals as frogs, alligators and jaguars all of these which they became crafts with time in honor to their Gods, they also had a religion the polytheistic that is nothing that having Good to whom they mounted altars and gave offerings of animals and even humans lives. The places where they performend this ritual were San Lorenzo, La Venta and Tres Zapotes.Definition of Olmec:means people of the country of rubber. To conclude I have to said there is a lot to say about these tribes for the reason that they are so rich an History and customs.
It is going to be great learning from your knowledge and experiences. Thank you for sharing so much with us. I have a Grandma that lives in Mazatlan. I have not visited her there. I would love to.
ResponderEliminarTiffany,
ResponderEliminarWhen things get better in the economy you should think on taking a trip to Mazatlan the pacific is beatiful and the port is great as well, you can get an airplane ticket from Sacramento to Mazatlan for 300dls roundtrip is not bad it is a great experience to go there because there is a lot of history in Mazatlan as well you can find a little bit of everything there, Lets hope you can take the time to visit your grandmother in Mazatlan am sure you will not regret, because you will find a lot of amazing seafood, trips, and history as I mentioned before. Thank you for your posting and have a wonderful night. Kind Regards.
MAYA CULTURE
ResponderEliminarWhen I think about the Maya culture what I can said even when we have talk about the Aztecs and Olmecs in past few weeks is that Mayas have a lot extensive culture with very same similarities they have an special denominator they are reflected in the present time, they have a big civilization which is represented in with symbols such as the pyramides and temples that are located in Yucatan,Quintana Roo,Guatemala and Belize. This culture was one of the smartest in that time they were great writers, farmers and even astrologers and this can be different from the other cultures, and at the same time they were very spiritual their believe in my point of view can be considered as extremist because am a person that is agaist human sacrifice but in history and in their belive this was a way of repaing the Gods. For example a God which they venerated was the God of Maize because this would give the God or leader of the tribe prosperictived and abundance in their lives. We would have to understand this as a favor for the Gods so they would give to them power and would make them keep ruling their tribe. Mayas are still important part of Mexican culture and this would be part of our History for long time and its still making us understand that without this cultures we would not be what we are now as human beings. Kind Regards.
Mesoamerica after the fall of Classic cities
ResponderEliminarThe objective I get from this weeks lecture review is that it was normal that after the concord of the spanish troops the cultures specially Maya and Aztecs were forced to live their land they were not capable to their defeand their land from the invaders, but as I was reading along there could be logical that this tribes could it migrated to locations that other tribes had been lived before for example the toltecs which they were long before then the aztecs, I would have to resume by saying that its not coincidence that this cultures have lot of manners in common for the reason that no one knows exactly if there is a conection between them, I would have to think that this cultures as they were nomadic they could been traveling and mixed up with different cultures that existed in the same time in History, I said this because we can see in the craft art of the Mayas, aztecs the similar animal they venerated the serpent, jaguar and cocodrile this is not coincidence for me I think they are connected in some way, well at least that my point of view guiding me in the Book, but what impresses me is that they all use the human sacrifice as a form of honor to the Gods something that has to be amazing. That my point of view. King regards
Mosaic Mask of Quetzalcoatl
ResponderEliminarI have choosen this mask for the wonderful colors and what represents to the Aztecs. This is a mask that is represented by two deities serpents, this mask is carved from a single piece of Cedrela Odorata which is a wood and is also covered with turquoise mosaic work. The teeth are made of white conch shell(stombus). These design incorporates two serpents, one in pale green turquoise and one in blue which encircle the eyes and are entwined over the nose and around the mouth. The serpent tails finish at the temples with rattles that are moulded in relief and were originally gilded. Turquoise mosaic plumes hang on both sides of the eye sockets.
While the feathers featured in the design of this mask are consistent with the symbolic elements associated with the image of Quetzalcoatl, the (goggle-eyes) produced by the intertwining serpents is a visual signifier often used to identify the rain god Tlaloc.
2. Why we were masks in Our daily lives
I think humans use masks in their daily lives because they are dissatisfied with their lives and they have to hide under a mask so society would not criticize them, or well we can find a lot of people that are hypocritical and they used this invisible mask as a protetion from other and they hide under it and they thing they can speak up about other people fredly but what they ignored is that the only mask they are wearing is the mask that tells them they are not welcome or unfrienly with society. Kind regards.
